Bradner recognised that neopreneโ€”a synthetic rubber filled with tiny gas bubblesโ€”offered excellent insulation. His research led to the development of one of the first practical neoprene wetsuits, laying the foundation for modern designs.

This breakthrough dramatically increased the amount of time divers could spend underwater, particularly in colder environments. It was a development that would have far-reaching consequences for exploration and research.ย
